Devan Kipyego, a junior at St. Raphael Academy, set the Rhode Island state record by taking third in the boys mile in 4:00.64 at the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle. Kipyego, who eclipsed the 2017 state all-time mark of 4:00.73 established by DJ Principe of La Salle Academy, was part of the first boys high school outdoor mile race in history with five male athletes running under 4:02.
