Samuel Tanner of Bethlehem College in Tauranga, New Zealand, who has signed with the University of Washington, made his debut at Husky Outdoor Track in Seattle, Wash., a memorable one, placing 11th in the men's 1,500 meters in a personal-best 3:38.74 at the Brooks PR Invitational. Tanner elevated to the No. 2 World U-20 performer this year and eclipsed the New Zealand U-20 record of 3:39.84 set by Northern Arizona's Theo Quax on April 19 at the Bryan Clay Invitational. He ranks No. 21 all-time in New Zealand history in the event.
